Tu Jaane Na remains one of the most-streamed Bollywood songs of the 2000s, often indexed as a "heartbreak anthem."
This paper examines the 2009 Bollywood film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (APKGK), directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. While ostensibly a romantic comedy, the film operates as a significant text in the evolution of the "absurdist comedy" genre within mainstream Hindi cinema. By analyzing the film’s narrative structure, character archetypes, and tonal shifts, this study argues that APKGK deconstructs the traditional tropes of the "lover-hero" through exaggerated performative idioms and slapstick anarchism. The paper explores how the film utilizes the concept of ‘Ghazab’ (wonder/strange) to challenge narrative logic, creating a unique cinematic space where emotional stakes coexist with farcical detachment.
