Epson periodically updates its firmware. Adjustment programs are often version-specific. A resetter designed for the L380 may not work for the L382, or a program intended for firmware version X may brick a printer running firmware version Y. Using an incompatible adjustment program can corrupt the printer's EEPROM, rendering the mainboard permanently unusable.
