Social media has had a profound impact on the way we consume and interact with yoga and wellness content. Platforms like Instagram and YouTube have given rise to influencers and celebrities who have built their brands around wellness and self-care. While this has helped to promote yoga and wellness, it has also created a culture of competition and comparison. Abella Danger and Brenna Sparks have both spoken about the pressure to maintain a certain physical appearance and the importance of self-care and self-compassion.
The worlds of yoga, lifestyle, and entertainment have become increasingly interconnected in recent years. Social media platforms have given rise to influencers and celebrities who have built their brands around wellness, fitness, and self-care. Two such individuals who have made a significant impact in these spaces are Abella Danger and Brenna Sparks. Known for their adult content, they have also been open about their passion for yoga and its role in their lives. This paper will explore the intersection of yoga, lifestyle, and entertainment, using Abella Danger and Brenna Sparks as case studies.
Abstract This paper examines the intersection of contemporary celebrity influence, branded fitness practices, and the commodification of sensuality within modern yoga culture, using the popularized phrase “hotandmean” as a lens. Focusing on two high-profile figures—Abella Danger and Brenna Sparks—this study traces how sexualized celebrity personas, social-media aesthetics, and commercial yoga (specifically hot yoga variants) shape participant experience, marketing strategies, and debates about authenticity, safety, and empowerment. The analysis combines media studies, fitness science, and cultural critique to produce practical recommendations for instructors, studios, and consumers.
