While Jack and Isabelle are talking, one of the magical beans accidentally falls onto the floor. As the rain pours in through a leak in the roof, a drop of water lands on the bean. Instantly, a gigantic beanstalk shoots up into the sky, destroying the farmhouse. The beanstalk grows so high that it pierces the clouds. Unfortunately, Princess Isabelle is trapped in the growing vines and is carried up into the heavens.

Princess Isabelle and Jack manage to escape, but they are being hunted. Back on the ground, King Brahmwell orders the beanstalk to be cut down to prevent the Giants from reaching the kingdom. This sends the Giants—and Jack and Isabelle—crashing back down, but the destruction of the stalk does not kill all the Giants. The massive creatures survive the fall and launch a full-scale siege on the castle.

Unlike the simple nursery rhyme, Jack the Giant Slayer expands the mythology significantly. The story follows Jack (Nicholas Hoult), a young farmhand who unknowingly receives a handful of magic beans from a fleeing monk. Years later, when a rainstorm accidentally waters a bean, a colossal beanstalk erupts through the floor of Jack’s home, carrying a kidnapped Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) into the clouds.
