Victor Santiago Jr., known as Noreaga (later stylized as N.O.R.E.), first gained prominence as one half of the duo Capone-N-Noreaga (CNN). Their debut, The War Report , is a gritty, underground classic. However, when N.O.R.E. released his self-titled solo album in 1998, he pivoted from the grimy, lo-fi aesthetic of CNN to a more polished, high-budget sound that defined the "Jiggy Era" of hip-hop.
